Hello, and welcome to The Parent Educator Reality.

I’m Tamilia Brooks—a parent, educator, advocate, and lifelong learner who understands that raising and supporting children is both rewarding and challenging.

I created this blog because I wanted a space where real experiences could be shared openly and honestly. Every day, I interact with children, parents, families, and educators, and through those experiences, I have seen the joys, struggles, questions, victories, and realities that come with supporting children’s growth and development. Too often, people feel like they are facing these challenges alone when, in reality, many of us are navigating similar journeys.

As both a parent and an educator, I bring two perspectives to this platform. My parenting experiences have taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of growing alongside my children. My work as an educator has shown me the value of advocacy, meaningful relationships, communication, and meeting children where they are. Together, these experiences have shaped my understanding of what children truly need to thrive.

The mission of The Parent Educator Reality is simple: to remind parents that they are not alone, to remind educators that they are not alone, and to create a space where voices can be heard, experiences can be shared, and meaningful conversations can take place. This blog offers a true perspective based on real-life interactions, practical experiences, research, and lessons learned along the way.

Here, you’ll find discussions about parenting challenges, educator experiences, child development, self-care, advocacy, emotional well-being, and practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life. Some days we’ll celebrate successes, some days we’ll reflect on challenges, and some days we’ll simply remind ourselves that we’re all doing our best.

Because let’s be honest—children don’t come with instruction manuals, and if they did, they would probably update them every week!
